Letter, 1788 December 26, "au chateau de la Rouerie, par fourgeres en Bretagne, [France], to T[homas] Jefferson, [Paris, France].

Wrote to Mr. Ferdinand Grand about paying the interest that is due; Grand claimed to have received no instructions from the United States board of treasury; requests that Jefferson give Grand the order to pay the interest; if the interest is not paid, there will be consequences for France and the United States; the interest is due on the first day of every year; will be terribly upset if Grand does not pay.
